1981 SE Racing P.K. Ripper

My ACTUAL childhood bike. (well, the frame)

My dad bought me this in 1982 and I've had it since. No damage or rewelds, and perfect dropouts. Almost identical to the way it was when I was a kid. Will be buried with me.

Thanks to all for nice comments!  Yeah, the stand is custom, it's actually some artsy-fartsy napkin holder that I made useful.:D

Re: 1981 SE Racing P.K. Ripper

NICE PK Ghostrider, I actually had chrome LG's on mine and bashed em all up around 83 or 84.  I found some stripped in good shape and powdered em grey since I was afraid to chrome them.  I'm feelin the blue headset.  You got a nice collection there....

Re: 1981 SE Racing P.K. Ripper

I planned to build one of these until I saw this bike at the West Chester ride. I realized I could never compare, only copy what you have done with this bike Wade.  The only thing I would have done different is a layback seat post because of my height.  Thanks for saving me a bunch of money  :D

It's yours. Do what you want with it :)

Re: 1981 SE Racing P.K. Ripper

Thanks Bill and MattyG, Dad told me to get one frame that would last cause he wasn't gonna buy me another bike. (trashed some cheapos, he was pi$$ed)  Last one he ever had to buy me.  Dad passed away in 1990, PK holds lots of good memories of him. :)

Re: 1981 SE Racing P.K. Ripper

Seeing bikes like that BITD are the reason I had to eventually have one.....so I built my ideal.   But it was those old ones that everyone went crazy for back then.

Despite all the times you may have needed quick money, you retained that beauty!  I agree with the above....mad props!

Sure I'll look like a bear at the circus, but I'll get a little fun out of it.

Re: 1981 SE Racing P.K. Ripper

By the way, where can I get one of those stands?   Old or new?

Re: 1981 SE Racing P.K. Ripper

Thanks guys for nice comments.  Never considered selling, would sell blood first.  The bike "stand" was actually a napkin holder that got marked down at my work.  I just put a section of polished aluminum on it, a sticker, and SHAZAM!    If I would have known they would be so popular, I would have bought more.
