1978 Schwinn Mag Scrambler

Chicago greatness brought back from the dead, totally worth it!

This bike came as part of a two bike package, a 78 and a 79. I wanted the Motomag wheels the 79 had on but the seller wasn't parting them so I bought the whole package. Best deal ever! I have a set of killer Motomag wheels and now a pair of beautiful Schwinn bikes!I included a picture of what this bike looked when I got it. It'll give you an idea of the amount of work that went into it. I'm also including the link to the chain restoration I did, in case you find it useful.I'm in the process of finishing the 79 as a Scrambler 36/36, it's looking good! Some info on the restoration:
As I do with all my bikes, I like to mix restored with OG and great survivor parts and with this bike, it's no different, hope you like the blend and final product!
Stripped frame, forks and bars. Painted everything, not powdered. The crossbar was too crooked to leave it alone so it was re welded. Only now that it is finished I noticed the right grip side of the bars is slightly bent...oh well, it'll be addressed at a later time as it looks "bent" from the factory.Rechromed headset, sprocket and seat post. Cranks are 1978 AShtabula as the original ones.Filled and sanded seat clamp and had it re zinc plated.Decals are re pops except for the Mag Scrambler ones. A friend of mine gave them to as originals.Wheels are a beautiful set of survivor Skyway Tuff I wraped in Comp II reproductions by Juan Mattos (CW)Seat is a great Schwinn survivor.Grips are Hunter Wylde reproductions.
