1986 Kuwahara Bravo KT

Dave Vanderspek Replica from Curb Dogs 2

After building the dayglo yellow Dave Vanderspek replica I had another Bravo KT frame set and stumbled across a NOS set of the correct style Air Uni wheel discs on eBay, so it was on! I had most of the parts in my stash and got lucky with scoring the few bits I still needed easily. Thanks to 80sKid whose website helped identify some of the parts where the stills from the video were not sharp enough to be sure.
RIP Vander.

Frame Number – 86020764 - powdercoated neon pink by Blast Coatings in Ft Worth, FL. Black fades done with rattlecan black
Forks – Correct Kuwahara freestyle forks (pegs removed, as Dave didn’t use them)
Wheels – Very clean Black Peregrine Master Graphite Composite wheels.
Tires – NOS Avocet Fasgrip pool style slick tires – Used and endorsed by Dave in magazine adverts
Bottom Bracket – Hatta with stamped locknut
Headset – Tioga beartrap
Handlebars – GT freestyle bars powdered black with Rector decal
Grips – NOS AME Bubblefont pink Tri grips
Stem – Pro Neck II stem in black (was silver, swapped since pics)
Seat Clamp – Original K stamped Kuwahara clamp, repowdered black
Cranks – Redline single pinch full wrap 401’s with freestyle decals
Chainwheel – Original Bubble font 44T Redline chainwheel – nice condition
Freewheel – Chrome Suntour 16T
Chain – KMC nickel chain
Brakes – NOS Black Dia-Compe MX-1000 front, NOS black Dia-Compe 901 rear. NOS Tech 4 black front lever and ACS locking Teche style lever as used by Dave. Matching date 080586 Dia-Compe cables.
Pedals – Lightly Refurb’d and very nice silver Shimano DX’s
Seat Post – Original Kuwahara layback post repowdered neon pink
Seat – NOS plain Black Elina seat with Elina Logo decals lightning bolt decals modified to remove yellow edges, as per Dave.
Rear Pegs - Single feat GT stamped peg
Decals – Correct set of repro decals From Delcals in the UK

Those are the baddest wheel covers I ever seen! I have very few bikes that are my favorite but yours just made the list!
