1983 Profile Racing Champ Pro

Rare chain stay brake bridge gusset.

Lucky enough to have the opportunity to purchase this kit which included the FF, bars, cranks, and seat post.
This is one of the rare frames that has a brake bridge welded into the chain stay when they ran out of the normal gussets. I finished of the Champ with a few goodies but wish I had some revolver Profile hubs , and horse shoe pedals to go with it. I'm happy with the LRP hubs and Hutch pedals for the time being,  and pretty happy with the way it turned out. I was also happy to find a home for my dia compe cable which has been in my parts bin since the 80's lol.

Re: 1983 Profile Racing Champ Pro

it's an expert  model profile ,  due to the lower  brake bridge behind BB having holes instead of being flat .

rad bmx by the way .

Hmmm, based on the 19 1/4" top tube length I wouldn't think this is an expert size frame. I was told by Scott that there was a short run of these when they ran out of gussets at the factory and kept running production.
Do you have any catalogue or similar type pics or documentation to support your comment.
You do bring up an interesting point because I don't think I have ever seen a Profile " expert " size bike.  I have always thought of the Shelby James as a mini.
Honestly I have the bike built up and ride it and it doesn't feel like a mini to me. Way larger then lots of pro sized bikes of the same era like Kuwahara,  Diamondback, etc..
