1984 Team Murray X20FS III
1984 Team Murray X20FS III
The first Freestyle Bike I had ever seen...................
Living in Oak Ridge, Tennessee in 1984, my brothers and I drifted back and forth between dirt bikes and bmx bicycles. There was an area nearby where we lived that we could go ride our motorcycles. The problem was that our neighbors weren't big fans of the dirt bikes. My parents were walking us down the path of getting rid of the dirt bikes so we started looking into BMX. Right across the street from where we lived, there was a Kmart. I remember walking in one day and looking at the line of preassembled bicycles all sitting in this long row. As a walked slowly past each of the front wheels, from small to big, there was one that just stood out. I remember it to this day! The bikes were all sitting in front of a window and the sun was shining through. There was this one white bike and it just stood out amongst all the rest! It was - in fact - a brand new 1984 Team Murray X20 FSIII! Brand new on the floor! The things that really stood out to me was the white hot paint and the green and blue striping and pads. I didn't know why but it just grabbed me! It had a Dia Compe MX1000 front brake and Tech 3 lever! Shimano Pedals! ACS Z-Rims with a Z hub on the front and a Suntour Coaster Brake on the rear! And the dropouts - there was something about the extended dropouts on the back of the frame and the long fork tubes on the forks that went below the dropouts! It was THE first bicycle that I ever saw that made me want to get into freestyle. And now, after all of these years - I actually own one that is of all things NOS! Thank you Alexanderrw for selling me one of your two NOS X20 FSIII's! As I replicate each and everyone of the bikes that I had as a child, this Team Murray X20 FSIII is without a doubt the cornerstone. And again, its NOS! So excited and proud to own this bike. I'm going to let the pictures do the talking! Take a look and just enjoy the view! Thanks again Alex! I hope you ALL enjoy the pictures! Ope

I appreciate that history. I remember seeing the commercial for the first time, saying, "That's a good-looking bike that I could probably afford". Nothing has changed.

I love this bike! If you ever want to get rid of it let me know. I collect Murray's. It reminds me of my Murray street style I own but different forks and rims
Always looking for Murray's to add to my collection.
