1988 GT Pro Series XL

This build was inspired by the cover of BMX Action in December 1988.  Gary Ellis was racing one with a black frame and chrome forks.

Parts Breakdown: Frame & Fork: 88 GT Pro Series XL, Bars: 88 GT Pro (original to the frameset/bike), Stem: 89 GT Pro XXL, Headset: GT Epoch Race (original to the frameset/bike), Grips: A'ME Bubble Font, Brake Lever: Dia Compe Tech 77 - dated 1988, Brake Cable: Dia Compe - dated 1988, Brake Caliper: Dia Compe MX901, Brake Pads: Skyway Tuff Pads, Seat Clamp: 88 GT (original to the frameset), Seat Post: No Name with GT decal, Seat: Kashimax Aero, Cranks: Power Series 180MM - dated 1988, Pedals: SR Speed Traps MTP-100 Sealed Bearing, Disc: 88 GT Power Disc, Chainwheel: GT - 43 Tooth, Chainwheel Bolts: GT, Chain: Izumi, Hubs: GT First Gen Race, Freewheel: Shimano 16 Tooth, Rims: Araya 7X, Tires: Tioga Comp III with Blue/Grey labels

Man, what an awesome bike. Love it. I've got a nice '88 F/F in black that I'm going to have to try and build up now. The cranks are so hard to get here in Oz though, no one wants to part with them.

This bike is amazing!  You hardly see any of these mid to late 80's Pro Series built up to factory specs.  The bikes were perfect the way they came from GT.
