1986 Mongoose Californian
1986 Mongoose Californian
Survivor! 99.9% Original! 3-piece Pro-Class cranks!
This bike is all original except for the rear tire. It has the original grips, brake pads, brakes, pedals. The rim strips were gold. They were completly rotted though. It was built at the Moorpark, CA facility. It has been sitting since the late '80's. I pumped up the tires and rode it around a little. Started restoration (i.e. buying NOS replacement parts), but got side tracked on other project's. Maybe one day?

Man, that's just way cool. You just never see one that some one cared as much as to just leave it in all it's glory!

Re: 1986 Mongoose Californian
Been spending the better part of the last three hours looking for a bike that looked like the one I had back in high school in the late 90s. Finally I managed to find a killer survivor that looks exactly like mine, and it has me drooling. Of course it was stolen in NY way back then (also suffered from some noticeable dents) and I've been day dreaming of building another one ever since. If I were a rich man I would be begging you to sell right this moment!
Bravo, mate. I would scarcely change a thing.
When I bunnyhop I hear a creak and I don't know if it's my bike or my joints. Oh well.
