1983 National Pro Long
1983 National Pro Long
Who can forget Shawn Texas grasping a National Pro in the ads back in the day...
I don't know any of the bike's history other than I bought this from another member of the forum. Unfortunately, the serial number was ground/sanded on at some point in its life. Most National Pro frames that I have seen have an arched brake bridge - this frame has a straight brake bridge. Here's a break down of the parts: 1983 National Pro Long Frame & Fork - Rechromed National Pro "Pro" handlebars - Rechromed National Pro seat post - Rechromed NOS A'ME unitron grips NOS Dia Compe MX1000 brake/DC Tech 3 lever/DC cable NOS Kashimax Aero seat Dia Compe MX seat clamp Redline 401 crank arms - Rechromed Redline bubble font chainwheel - Polished Hadley bottom bracket - Polished Hutch pedal bodies - Rechromed NOS polished Hutch pedal cages Phil Wood hubs - Polished Araya 7x rims - Rechromed NOS Asahi chrome spokes Comp IV tires (fat/skinny) Pro Neck stem - Refinished Tange 320 headset Repop National Pro padset

I agree with block. ^^^^
Sick frames make sick bikes. This is a fine specimen. I need to have one of these at some point.

Re: 1983 National Pro Long
Hi there. Congrats for the bike, it's absolutely awesome. Worth the hard work, including rechroming the grips ;-)
I'm wondering what are these wheel axis bolts you have put on. I guess they're not era correct (although I may be wrong), but they look very clean and practical, I'd like to get me some.
Thanks !

Re: 1983 National Pro Long
I love this build. So picture perfect!
Shawn Texas was so cool. Met him at a big race in Grass Valley. He had some good pointers for my gate starts!
