1974 Schwinn Spitfire 26

This is a 1974 Schwinn 26 i picked up with a 1980 Bassett star cruiser. The paint job makes me think it could be something Bassett used in the boat pits before they made the star cruiser.Rides great!

1974 Schwinn Spitfire 26 with custom Bottema moto styled forks with thick drop outs done before Bottema's came out.Custom striped paint job, mottocross bars from the 70's.Original Coaster brake.
Edit 2018-Changed the forks to Tange TX 1200,70's double clamp stem with motorcycle bars that Cook Bros styled there bars after. Also put some newer light weight aluminum wheels to match the stem.Last Picture is how it sits now.
Rides awesome!

Thanks for the comments, the back rim is a Schwinn S2 the front is a CMC i picked up to replace the Blue ano Ukai front wheel that came on the bike.
Bike rides great took it on the Strandie ride,Broke the chain though trying to go to fast up a hill.We fixed it and was able to do the whole ride.

Re: 1974 Schwinn Spitfire 26

Made some changes to the bike, the forks were not welded to great so I put on a nice set of Tange TX 1200 and lighten up the bike by putting alloy wheels that are the newer ones but lighter than Araya.I took off the chain guard added Union rat trap pedals and a comfy old cruiser seat.Thing is a wheelie machine now!https://s3.amazonaws.com/uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/39840/img_20161025_163707861580fefc74b.jpg

New stem an bars, both from the 70's,bars  feel like Cook Bros Long Horn cruiser bars,30 inches wide.Motorcycle bars with close to same sweep back. coolhttps://s3.amazonaws.com/uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/39840/dscn711015baff02c51.jpg
