2013 Volume Hessian 26

26" Cruiser that rides like a 20"

As soon as Volume announced this bike I was stoked. I wish I had this to commute with when I lived in Boston. The Hessian replaced the Sledgehammer in Volume's lineup. I purchased this bike over the summer and it's been a blast to cruise around on. The bike comes as a complete and is relatively inexpensive—so some of the components aren't the best. I've upgraded a few things here and there, the first being the rear wheel. The first day I had the bike I bent the rear wheel again the frame over-rotating a 180.

The only thing that bums me out about this frame is the fact that only the downtube is chromoly.

Nice!
It looks like the front tire would be really close to your foot when turning?

Re: 2013 Volume Hessian 26

definately cool. love the chrome

Hear what you are saying about the hi-ten frame.

I have the 2012 Sledge, which I believe is the last year of full chromo, hence the new name.

There's a little bit of overlap sometimes, but it's not too bad at all. It's never been an issue for me. That said, I road a track bike everyday for 4 years when I lived in Boston and those have a ton of toe overlap... so I could be accustomed to worse?

Looks awesome! I've recently been lusting after the Fairdale TAJ frame, but it seems to have a bit more old school geometry w/ a longer back end, etc. I really love the way this bike rides, I just want full chromoly!

Re: 2013 Volume Hessian 26

Right, The Volume Hessian/Sledgehammer has the newer school geometry.

I would like mine much better if it had a 1/2" longer TT and a 1/2" shorter ST.
Then it would really resemble a blown up new school bike.

This frame/fork/clamp/seat post is now up for sale! I had a custom Standard built to replace this.
