Re: GT Serial Number Info

I have a frame fork combo with the Japanese Serial according to your breakdown. Is there a way to tell which model it is though? The serial is It looks like a Mach One. 5H0313 (baseball) Wasn't sure if the 313 stated the model.

Re: GT Serial Number Info

It's an '85, in which case the Mach One and Pro were the same frame.

I won't be able to ship until about 12/10/22.  Communication will be pretty good.

Re: GT Serial Number Info

Hello I'm told this bike is a GT. Could someone please help decipher this serial number. It has GE 20 or GE 200 on one side of bottom bracket and S1JT03846 on the other side. I appreciate it 👍

The serial number on my pro performer on the rear Drop off is 11870765. There are no letters? Is that normal?https://s3.amazonaws.com/uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/308355/20221007_2111056340ce5c9f.jpg

Re: GT Serial Number Info

I believe I have a 1990 Dyno Compe based on the decals. The serial number stamped on the dropout is: DH89072854 which tells me it was manufactured in July of 89.

Here’s the tricky part, it has a “sticker” serial number on the BB that is totally different!! I’ve never seen this personally.

“Sticker” serial number:KS89077527

1) Why would there be two different serial numbers?

2) Would you think that it could be a 90’ manufactured in July of 89?

The sticker was probably put on the wrong Frame at the time 🤷‍♂️

The SN's are dated like a car...June/July is considered the following year...usually we the Museum go with August/September as the following year...

To us yours is a 1989...

Re: GT Serial Number Info

Starting In 83- GT Put The Year With Month(1-12) & Year With 2 Digits(83) vs Only One Digit For Year(2) In 82 And Also More Bikes We're Made In 83 Than 82(Higher Amount). So Your 82 Is August Of 82, 199 Bike Made. Your 83 Is Nov 83, 1954 Made. Haven't Seen Any Info That States In 82 That The Numbering Was Per Month And 83 Was Cumulative. Numbers Were Stamped On Dropout Plates Before Welding Up Frame.

No letters is what you want. All USA made in your case. 11 for the month. 87 for the year. The rest of the numbers are production sequence. It could have been stickered as a late 1987 or early 1988.

5L0812 with a baseball symbol.  5 is for the year 1985. L for the 12'th month December. The rest of the numbers are production sequence. This was made in Japan. The chances are they grabbed the wrong drop out when it was welded and ended up on the inside instead of the outside. No worries, it’s odd but not unheard of.

I answered you in your other post. Never personally seen a GT serial number that starts with “C”. Very odd. However it looks like June of 1994 whatever it is.
