1997 Profile Racing X-File 24
"Lady Blue"
When I got her from Jakehigh5, she was a hot mess. After I got her seatstay repaired and got her powdercoated Grabber Blue to honor the Ford Mustang, I decided to build her with my own hands -- save for the re-installation of the bottom bracket. Initially, I didn't see myself putting anything but Profile cranks on her, but once I put the Powerlite Driveshafts on, I knew they were where they belonged. I will change out the wheelset and tires, so expect a parts rundown at that time. She will be a show bike, but will get ridden plenty!
Frame - Profile X-File 24, custom powdercoated Grabber Blue
Fork - Profile, same paint job
Bars - S&M 5.75" Race cruiser
Stem - S&M XLT Race
Grips - ODI Rogue
Headset - FSA Orbit Extreme sealed cartridge
headset spacers - Blue Bat
Wheels - Bombshell Revolution 24" cassette, 17t cog
Cranks - Powerlite Driveshaft 180mm (made by Supercross)
Sprocket - Powerlite Propeller, 44t
Chain - KMC
Chain tensioners - Profile
Pedals - Shimano DX
Brakes/lever - Shimano DX v-brake
Cable - Shimano
Tires - Kenda All Terrain Bicycle, 24x1.75"
Valve caps - custom 44T BMX Club dice caps (thanks to Willinois via Ted aka Old BMX Dad!)
Seat - Velo Pronto Si, titanium rails
Seat post - XLC, 26mm
Seat post clamp - DK

Jim, the stem is an S&M XLT (was on my Powerlite 24"), and the top tube...is a roomy 21.5". Thanks for the compliment, bro!

Never been much of a GWAR fan... I reckon so, and I wish I knew their production numbers from this era. I do know that production of some of their frames (not the X-Files, as far as I know) was outsourced to BREW. I also read that Columbus tubing was used for the rear triangles of those frames. Interestingly, I think it was also used for these frames because the shape of the rear tubes on this bike is identical to the shape of those on my PR Cruiser, which was BREW welded.
