Re: 1984 Kuwahara Bravo

The first 85 bravos were made out of left over 84 frames. I have a couple differnt versions of this. And while the frame is stamped 84  they are still consider 85 bravos. Sounds like yours is a 84 laser lite frame. Very cool frame to begin with.
:)

Interesting :)

Would you happen to know what the difference is between an 85 Bravo and Laser Lite frame?

Of course!  :D

Easiest way to spot the 84 laserlite is the top oval tube on the frame. Also the laser lites were chrome and they painted over them to make them bravos.  Usually the paint chips off around the dropouts ect revealing the OG chrome finish.  The Bravo frame is all round tubing and all i have ever seen are stamped starting in 85.  Still made in japan and great bikes.

Also the early bravos made from 84 frames never have the bravo sticker on the seatpost tube of the frame.

And on an interesting note the early bravos are often loaded up with some of the good 84 parts :)  I have three versions of the 85 bravo and should measure up the frames to see how different the 85 frame really is is.

Re: 1984 Kuwahara Bravo

Thanks guys.  Yes this frame has an oval top tube and it is chrome underneath.  I thought about stripping the frame and then chroming the forks and bars to match.  But then I might not ride it and I love the way this cruises.  It did come with the Suntour goodies rather than tuff neck.  Plus it had the Kuwahara stamped sprocket that I really like.
