1986 Shogun, # T3B0559. Same as Kuwahara, KZ 2.5??

This is soon to be the flag ship of my collection!! 100% NOS!! I need some help with parts selection. Any information or input will help!! The parts on it are what I had laying around.

Re: 1983 Shogun

somone really put their heart into that frame wink   i have never seen one of those. but i love it.

when i see a mongoose at walmart, i try and picture the metal being used to make something more useful, like a frying pan, or maybe some clothes hangers...oh well...its out of my hands.

my bikes are tri-moly. that means i have 3 times more chromo than you..haha

Re: 1983 Shogun

I had a Shogun road bike once and loved it! Why not leave it the way it is? She looks fine just like that to me.

Re: 1983 Shogun

Im trying to go date correct on the build. I thought about building it as if it were a Kuwahara.(stock parts wise).

Re: 1983 Shogun

I had this listed as a 1986 but I was incorrect. It is a 1983... #T3B0559 Decoded is
T-Tange
3-1983
B-Feburary
0559-Production # for that month

Re: 1983 Shogun

How about some Shimano DX cranks.I'd forgotten about them until I saw some old ones on eBay. Very Very nice!  see (http://www.vert-ego.com/main.htm) for some red ones.
It all depends on how much you have to spend. I saw some NEW DX pedals for about £130 on eBay. (Can't beat Shimano for the NICE bits.Always have & probably will be a fan of there work)

Re: 1983 Shogun

Here's my Shogun...
I should have it put together in about a month.
My wheels are being laced right now.
I'll submit my bike when it's ready (FEB.)

Re: 1983 Shogun

Dude, nice Frameset. Shogun is very under rated!!! I think if more people knew what they were and understood they are built by one of the Premier bike manufactures at their peak. They would be more sought after. I love my Shoguns!!! They are by far one of my highest quality bikes!! Where did you get that Frameset??? I got my 2 sets off Ebay. NIB, NOS. What parts are you putting on it!!! Finally someone else with a Shogun!!!!

Re: 1983 Shogun

No shizzle-
I hardly see anyone with these frames. I got mine from a guy on vintagebmx a couple years ago, Bill.  I love that it is Tange. Hey, maybe in another 20 years people will see them for what they are- Quality Bikes.
Parts- I'm actually going with a one piece crank, Sungino with KKT pedels. Dia Compe MX1000 front and Back setup, Uni seat.
I love my wheels; Araya 7x rims with Campy hubs- Sweet setup. I'll post as soon as it is complete.
Talk Later
What stem should we use? Suntour?, Tuf-Neck?
BTW-  T3C1602 big number!

Re: 1983 Shogun

Dudes!! Youins got nice bikes!! Like I said earlier in this post, I had a Shogun road bike and it was sweet. Totally loved it. I doubt that I would ever find a Shogun bmxer in these parts but if I did Id snatch it up so fast the chrome would fall off.

Re: 1983 Shogun

Shogun is like FUJI probley started making bikes in 1840 or something silly like that..Bloomin nice ride dude...To keep it stock just make sure every part is made in Japan.....Then its pure sickness..Shimano 600 BMX cranks would top it off ...Being Tange Aero the tubes should be oval..Remember the Shimano Aero bikes in the early 80"s they too were oval Tange tubes..
Will you take $15 for it ??...

Please check out my bikes in my profile..I'd like to know more about my redline
