1985 Haro Master

I bought my neon green 1985 Haro Master from a schoolmate in 1990 had it until about 1993 when someone used bolt cutters to gain access to my parents shed, and of course the only thing missing was my Master.A few rumors floated around about who did it but I never had any proof.Tried to find it but with no success. In early 2007 a good friend of mine called to tell me he had purchased a Master from the local pawn shop.It was repainted an aweful red,but I knew it was mine when I saw that the dumb ass who stole it never sanded out the initials I carved on the underside. My friend knew how much I loved this bike so he let me have it for the same as he paid. It's great to have the frame and fork back(never recovered my Sugino 400's and other stock parts.)I sanded it down but was afraid to restore it because the jackass who stole it scratched the serial # out.So I listed what happened to me in the Catchall of BMX forum and it was unanimous that it should be restored and cherished. So thats exactly what I'm going to do.I'll post new pics as the restoration progress takes place.

Re: 1985 Haro Master

nothing beats the original!! Restore it for sure. The only thing that could have made that story better would be catchin that useless blob of human mass that stole it. But im sure life caught him for us. ;)

Re: 1985 Haro Master

Man your story is like the same thing that was done to me.  Except mine was stolen from me twice. I still have not seen a haro like mine since.  If you know anyone that has one I'll buy it drop me a line.

Yeah it's just chillin' in the back room....I keep meaning to finish it but I have a problem(I can't quit buying every local bike I stumble upon.)I still need the correct forks for it before it gets color-(took these forks off my 88 Master before I sold it)and all I'm finding is  FST forks that have the side holes mounted too low.
And I just bought a decent camper so fundage is a little tight right now.
Anyway I hope at the very latest it will be finished by summers end.

Yeah it's definetely my pride and joy of my bikes even as it sits. You just can't go and buy the memories you made on your original.
We are doing major home improvement...but as soon as thats done my $$$ will go into getting it done.I can't wait to see some color on this.

No new photos....but our massive home improvement project is almost done,so my weekly bike fundage will take a big jump as soon as we quit dumping $$ into the home improvements.:o
The bike should come together pretty fast then. Can't wait!:D

Awesome story.  Always nice to hear about recovered bikes.  I have a similar story myself on my 88 RL20II.  Nice frame too!

Re: 1985 Haro Master

THANKS  FOR THE COMMENT. I'M GLAD YOU FOUND YOUR TRUE LOVE. YOU COULD FIND SOME OF THE PARTS ON EBAY, BUT SOME OF THE PRICES THEY ASK FOR ARE CRAZY. YOUR LUCKY ON FINDING ALL OF THEM BIKES FOR A LITTLE BIT OF MONEY. MAYBE YOU COULD SELL SOME OF THEM, SO YOU COULD RESTORE THE HARO. C4 LABS ARE GREAT ON POWDER COATING. KEEP ME POSTED ON ANY UPGRADES.

Re: 1985 Haro Master

i also had an 85 master that was stolen when i was a kid never found it but recently i ran into an old childhood buddy that i knew had two masters back in the day one was his complete i think 86.the other was a 87 team master just the frame i had tryed to buy the 87 frame numerous times back in day but he wouldnt sell so i hadnt seen the guy for 10 years or more and last year i run into him ask him about the masters he says i still got em then he finally sold me the frame for only 30 bucks the paint and stickers were rough so i striped it down to chrome got some parts and you can dsee the pics here on the museum...anyways i like your story so i had to tell you mine
