1984 Mongoose Californian.My grail bike.B.I.T.D

It was a few months before christmas 1984.Me and my brother had wanted bikes for christmas.So my mom took us to the local bike shop.So we could pick out a bike for christmas.So we could get our letters to the north pole. For santa and beat the christmas rush.Anyways I had picked out a takara.It reminds me of a cheap heavy mongoose moto mag."Takara what was I thinking".So a few weeks later I was driving with mom.I saw a bike shop and asked if we could stop.We got in the bike shop and there it was.The 1984 mongoose californian with the red pad set,from that moment I saw it I was hooked.That was one tough bike.With the loop tale frame.I thought that was the greatest bike I ever saw.The bike shop owner even let me take for a spin in the parking lot.After seeing it and riding it I was hooked.I had to have it.I was to late though are letters where already at the north pole.So when I woke christmas morning 1984.There was the takara sitting by the christmas tree.I was greatful for what I got.So I really should not talk bad about the takara. It got me a around.Anyways I had a few good bikes back then after the takara.I had a diamond back,pk ripper,but for some reason or another.I never had a mongoose b.i.t.d.Now almost 25 years later and I finally got one.Its not stock,its the way I would have built it b.i.t.d if I had just a frame to start with.A few parts I still need to change.1984 mongoose californian a proud part of the bmxmuseum.com.
