1982 Redline MX-II
1982 Redline MX-II
An old school Redline MX-11. I do not know the exact year of this bmx classic...so if you can help me out, I would greatly appreicate it!
Thanks.
Old School Redline MX-11 getting ready for restoration. Maxy Cross Cranks, KKT Lightning pedals, and a hodge-podge of other parts...Dyno Handlebars, Dyno Seat Clamp, Front GT Hub and Rim, etc. The serial number is #RA 04320 and has "REDLINE" in an oval. Thanks for all of your help with this Redline. "This is a great site and takes me back"!!!

Re: 1982 Redline MX-II
Any help in dating this frame?
And, can anyone tell from the pics if these are REDLINE forks as well?
Thanks.

Re: 1982 Redline MX-II
Can anyone tell me how I can safely get rid of the "freckles" on my original chrome REDLINE MX-11????? Years ago, I would have used S.O.S./Brillo Pads on all chrome, but I don't want to cause scratching......what do you all recommend??
Thanks.

use the stuff that comes in a tin can called "never dull" its like a big ball of cotton with a polish absorbed in it. with a few rubs it knocks off the rust and makes the chrome shine its a silver can with black letters. you cant built bikes without it.
they sell it at auto part stores...heres a pic in case you have never seen the stuff

when i see a mongoose at walmart, i try and picture the metal being used to make something more useful, like a frying pan, or maybe some clothes hangers...oh well...its out of my hands.
my bikes are tri-moly. that means i have 3 times more chromo than you..haha

I have almost the same exact frame, are the rear triangle tubes drilled at the end on yours? Mine are not, I have another Redline frame that I cannot ID and will get some photos up this weekend for help.
Looking for cruiser parts always. 80-mid 90's. 26/24 inch, can't rebuild enough of these great rides!

Re: 1982 Redline MX-II
you can use steel wool....but ONLY the "0000" grade. it wont scratch the chrome. go to home depot or something and look on the packaging. most places like pep boys, etc. will only have "00" or "000"....dont use those.
ONLY USE "0000"
with a little MOTHERS polish...that thing will be shining!
Always looking for anything from...
