1983 Shimano 4000

Shimano 4000 bmx 1983

Just fitted some Alloy rims to shave some weight from this ten ton tessy.
It is now rideable at this weight

If anyone knows about these bikes i would be interested to know'
Anyway this bike was in poor condition when i found it.
Most of the parts ended up in the bin.
I managed to put this bike together with spare parts i found in the shed,I just need a chain and a blue brake cable
Any questions just ask,regards Rerun

Sweet build Aiden! Awesome blue paint.

Here's the advert for the 4000 (this is the only info I have found on this bike)

Re: 1983 Shimano 4000

Thanks for the pics mate,
Nice to see these appear in the museum.
Hope others come along ,They are not the best bike s in the world but they sure do have great geometry and ride really well.
I prefer riding this over my PK's..True dinks

Thanks. It rides better than it looks
Would cost a fortune to do in origional parts though. It is a steel frame after all..Well built but steel

Re: 1983 Shimano 4000

Thanks mate its for sale at the moment, was on ebay.Had several offers that came close to selling but i chickened out cause it is very rare.
Although its a little on the heavey side ,it has almost perfect geometry.
I have several Pk rippers and i always feel really cramped rideng them and im only 5/10
Thanks for the interest...Rerun

Re: 1983 Shimano 4000

One of my best buds had one of these new BITD. It was red and the parts list is Araya 7x, shimano dx hubs, Shimano tourney brakeset (pre-bent levers), Win V bars and Win stem, Suntour clamp, Tange grips, alloy fluted post, Takagi 3pc crankset, Kashimax suede seat, Shimano DX pedals, Snakebelly tyres.
As you can see I remember it like yesterday. I had a KZ-1 but loved his bike.

Re: 1983 Shimano 4000

Freakn Heavy
There is NO comparison.
The 4000 is mild steel and almost a K-mart bike compared to the Race Inc
If you were deciding between a 5000 and a Race Inc ,I would still go the Race Inc
PM me if you want to chat:D
