1988 Haro FST

My first restore!

I restored this bike for a buddy of mine.  It had been in his parent's basement since the early 90's, and it needed some serious help.  As my first restore, I didn't even think of trying to find old parts for it.  Didn't even know that was an option at the time, or that this site even existed.  I just took it apart, gave it a good cleaning, and replaced those parts that were too far gone.  At least I tried to find items that would look similar to the original components - wheels, freewheel, chain, brakes and grips are new stuff from the LBS, and the blue tires are from porkchopbmx.com.  This was the project that got me back into BMX.

Looks Great! If you are not gonna run that gyro you should take it out so it doesn't rattle while riding!

If it were mine I would.  I need to give it back to my buddy, and I told him I would leave it intact in case he ever wants to hunt down gyro cables for it!

Re: 1988 Haro FST

Now that I look at the pics again, I guess the brake cables do look kind of funky!  I didn't bother to run the front through the stem like I should've - I was in too much of a hurry to get it put back together so I could ride it.  Maybe I'll re-run them before I give it back!
