1988 Hutch Jet

1988 Hutch Jet built with all survivor parts.

This is a 1988 Hutch Jet. I believe it was the only year these were made. A very low end Hutch but kind of rare. I bought everything for this on the museum. The bars are the original bars from the bike. I bought the frame from one side of the country and the bars from the other side, then found out the bars were bought from the member that parted it out. Reunited after traveling across the country!!

That guy's probably thinking "is this bike going to explode into my groin on impact?"

Cool oddity though, looks super short.

I love the old pics.
I miss my windstyler and the excel I had.

Would like lots of bikes but the SE Hauler is one that has a lot of sentimental value to me. Anyone got one?

Re: 1988 Hutch Jet

That American Freestyler pic is great. That guy has a slight look of fear in his eyes. My first "freestyle" bike was one of these. It was not a good bike. Practically every part bent or broke in short order. And yes, it was a department store bike. I got mine at Western Auto. I did learn tricks on this thing though. Plus, even though the frame wasn't anything good it didn't actually crack anywhere and I took this thing over ramps and jumps like crazy. Bent the stem, the seat post, the crank, the handlebars, the pedals and flat out busted the mags. After the Jet I moved on to a Torker 2 360 Air... another less than stellar choice. haha.

Re: 1988 Hutch Jet

I grabbed one of these on Ebay Yesterday. It was sold as a" very rare Hutch Exel" and has Exel stickers on it. i was hoping I may had scored some rare prototype. I was WRONG!!! I paid a bit too much for it. It looks like Hutch took a Pro Raider frame, slapped some loud colors on it and called it the Jet. I think I may be asking for a refund.

Re: 1988 Hutch Jet

My mother bought one of these for me back in the day. I remember her buying it from a place called Warehouse club which was later bought out by the now Sams club/Walmart. Believe it or not, I learned how to do 360s off a jump on that bike!!!! Looking back, how did I ever live through that hahahaha. Cool bike smile
