2009 GHP Jackal Pro XL

Fresh out of the box before modify it. Modified as of 3/12/11.

2009 GHP PRO XL Jackal. As it was delivered to me from GHP. Modifications will take effect soon, but I wanted to share the simpler version 1st. Then modify the pics as the bike gets modified. The first things to go will be the generic forks as per the suggestion of G.H. himself. They are good to go if I were not seriously going to race this thing as hard as possible.Considering my age of course. More info and pics to follow as I inspect every inch of it.
Finally finished the first level of modifications, with the new stem, headset and forks. All from GHP as well. The latest pics have been added.
As of March 12th 2011, have added the new GHP pivotal seat and post. And finally after much input and debate amongst members I went with the Redline Flights in Black. Liking the look for now. Odyssey 4 bearing sealed bottom bracket as well.

Re: 2009 GHP Jackal Pro XL

Nice!  The 20 inch version of my new G!  Next to go (or at the same time as the forks) should be the headset.  My first "real" case cracked a spacer and plastic insert..........   Just a suggestion!  Nice bike though!

Re: 2009 GHP Jackal Pro XL

Why the heck would Greg spec forks to sell on a complete "pro" race bike, and then tell his customers to replace them?

Seems....odd.

I expect more from GHP.

Nice bike, tho.

The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "save us"...

And I'll look down and whisper "no".

Re: 2009 GHP Jackal Pro XL

To be honest, in these economic times I'll bet he is looking to reach as many racers as possible. From the beginners to the more seriously inclined Die hards. The benefit of keeping the cost down is affordability to the new jacks, and options for us old schoolers. I could keep them for sure, but since I am one of the many who customizes his bike to my exact tastes, they are coming off. Even with the new forks I will add, the cost is still less than some of the others options I was considering. GHP is and has been a preference of mine as you can see by my cruiser in the museum. cool

I can def tell you why......  The frame/forks alone are $370, and the completes are $460 shipped.  Thats less than $100 to get all the "base" components from GHP.  If he would have put all his nicer stuff on there, these 2009 completes would prob be about $700 or $800 bucks.  I am ok with the cheap parts, just like on a car, when they break Ill upgrade them with better ones!  I guess in all reality, he should have a base complete for under $500, and a "team" edition for like $800 equipped with all the best GHP accessories.

Looks good though!  Its def a mini-me version of my bike, lol.

Currently shopping for a new bike and the complete GHP Jackal at $325 is nice but I’m 5’11 215 and wanted to know if this bike is strong enough for me for racing. Currently ride Schwinn pro stock 3 & Free Agent 24† ambush.

now that you have had it for quite some time, are you still happy with it?  I'm thinking of getting one such a sweet deal right now.

Re: 2009 GHP Jackal Pro XL

Well, a year into my Twenty4, and it is still beyond a great bike............  I can only guess that after these upgrades, BOSS 20 would prob have to agree!
