1998 ACE Hole Shot Pro XL
1998 ACE Hole Shot Pro XL
Ex-factory riders frame with a custom 1-off paint job!
I got this frame in a trade from Mike Tisa here on the museum...He was a factory rider for ACE and he talked to Andy (the owner of ACE) about the holeshots and came up with some info for me, ACE holeshots were produced between 1993-1998, The first 2 batches which were non-heat treated frames and were made with 1in headtubes. Those tended to snap at the BB shell, so if you have the 1" headtube version watch out! There were roughly 300 total made between 20 & 24in, coming in yellow, red, & black...Stay tuned because this one will be getting built up soon!

Also just for refernce the frame was painted by Maurtco powdercoating in my hometown of Cedarville,NJ. They are the same company who do all the sweet a$$ candy paint jobs on Hyper bikes. They also painted my Red STA & Cleared my ACE Spade.

Gary,
That link didn't work...I am sorry for the bad pics...I just wanted to shoot some quick shots before I build it and take proper photos...It's starting to get warmer here in the Midwest so I should get that done soon!

Re: 1998 ACE Hole Shot Pro XL
That must be an older frame cause it has a gusset on the seatpost to the bottom bracket where both of mine cracked.

Re: 1998 ACE Hole Shot Pro XL
for anyone that wanted info on the ace holeshot frames, here's the info you were looking for. my name is robert. i was working with a couple fabricators building gt 40 race cars and other kits. they had some aluminum stock (6061 aircraft aluminum) and i thought it would look cool and would make a neat bmx frame. also it would be a lot stronger than the round tube bmx bike frames being made. plus i wanted to build a frame that would have a very low profile. at the time i was riding a kasten, but i went to Andy and we talked and he gave me a free agent limo to have a jig built. i designed and paid for the first proto type to be built. cost me $300. took the proto type to Andy and built it for Mike cocosis. bike was way too heavey and did not work at all. went back and had 2 more proto types made. cost me $600. had one built with 2 bars on the bottom and one built with one bar on bottom. they both worked very well. (i still have the holeshot with one bar on bottom and still ride it) those proto types did not have built in seat post clamp and canta lever brakes. i then had a 4th proto type made that had built in seat post clamp and canta lever brakes that i gave to mike cocosis to race, and he did very well on it. Andy and i then spent a lot of money to have the first 10 production frames made. they sold but all broke due to not having them heat treated. we then took one of the frames, that wasnt broken and sent it to fad weld in florida for production. there are 250 20" bmx frames. i also had my kasten cruiser frame jigged and had fab weld produce them also. there are 150 cruisers. so if you want to know what the holeshots are, the 20" holeshot is a free agent limo and the cruiser is a kasten cruiser that was stretched.
thanks
