1996 Mongoose Expert Comp

'96 Expert Comp with some new school parts

Bought this bike on 10/31/2017. Rounded up a bunch of parts and put it together on 8/18/2018. It sports new TNT 10" bars, Redline Flight 180mm cranks, Profile XXL stem, SE Landing Gear forks, Kalloy seat post, Odyssey brake lever, Odyssey Slik cable, Dia Comp cable clamp, KMC Z410 Silver chain, Origin 8 chain ring bolts, Skyway Tuff II wheels, Maxxis Holy Rollers, Chain Tension-ers, Haro Fusion pedals, VP headset, Greenfield kickstand, blue anodized valve caps, Shimano 16T freewheel, Shimano brake pads, Shimano cantilever brake cable, Mongoose bar ends and a new set of decals from Re-Rides out of Australia. The Mongoose seat I found on eBay, also had to find a better 3 bolt seat post clamp and a pair of better condition Mongoose grips. Yes I removed the "Landing Gear" decals from the forks and firmly affixed the Mongoose decals in their place. The Kalloy's "UNO" badges also got canned and a Mongoose racing sticker now resides on it. The original seat post is to scratched up. Other than that I boxed away the other original parts. The Skyway wheels are a pain to get the tires seated. I inflated, deflated, tried water with dish soap, partially inflated and worked the bead until I was frustrated. They don't hop but they aren't perfect and will probably get replaced with spoke wheels at some point. The Holy Roller tires were removed from another set of wheels I had laying around. They are the biggest that would fit. I actually had gotten a pair of Odyssey “Mike Aitken” 20” x 2.35” tires but they were just to big to my disappointment. I love the bike overall. It feels very light and handles great. I've only ridden it a couple miles while fine tuning all adjustments. I plan on riding this a ton though, thanks for looking.
