1985 Haro Sport

My childhood bike.

As a kid, I read magazines at the grocery store while my mom shopped. I wanted a Haro more than anything in the world. I begged and pleaded to my mom for about a year that I needed a Haro. Growing up we did not have much money, so instead of the Haro Master I got a Haro Sport (my grandparents helped with the purchase). Wow! I have the coolest bike ever, a Haro Sport! I read every magazine that I could find about BMX freestyle. Not only did I try all the tricks, I also needed the latest and coolest parts. I mean, how can you do a tailwhip without a gyro? I don't remember how, but I managed to buy parts to "customize" my bike. I liked GT and thought the blue handlebars and seat post would look RAD. I also needed the white GT mallet stem and switched the brakes out for white Nippons and Tech 7 brake levers. As you can tell, I was into stickers. I mailed, yes mailed every BMX company for free stickers. The stickers on the bike are from companies that sent me free stickers in the mail. So this is how my bike came out to look like almost 30 years ago.

About 10 years ago my Aunt was having a yard sale and I took my Haro Sport and told her to ask for $100 and take whatever was offered. I AM SOOOOO GLAD IT DID NOT SELL!

My bike has always been sitting in my garage until recently when I moved and I just somehow grew interest in the bike again. I found this website and discovered all of "us" are BMX fans. I currently have my Haro stripped down and will clean and rebuild my bike to almost original if I can find the original parts (oh how I wished I knew where my parts are that I took off the bike). Once I get if put back together I will post "new" pictures of my childhood bike.
