1988 GT Pro Freestyle Tour Team
Early '88 frame, built and stickered as an '87
I decided early in the new year that I was ready to build an '87 PFTT and got in touch with Chip at C4 who just happened to have a '88 frame, bars, later forks, and seatpost. He was able to get it powdered, stickered, and on my porch in a week's time. I built it up with repro parts, aside from the wheels. I got creative here as I wanted the superlace look, but on a tight budget. I had some Weinmann rims laced to wide flange hubs that actually came off a Walmart Mongoose KO Team - the nicest of the wal gooses for their parts. I have actually restored one and parted two out over the years. I disassembled the wheels, had hubs powdered gloss white, applied GT hub decals and re-laced. This was my first time lacing up wheels and I got them nice and straight. I won't ever be paying for that again! This is a rider, of course and I'll wear it out this summer.
