1984 Profile Prostyler
Have you ever seen pink Aerospeeds?
Well here it is what I sometimes think is going to be my last build, probably because of the amount of work that was involved in building this one in a short period of time. Tracking down parts and putting a bike together with NOS parts is no easy task, but after doing this build I have come to realize that restoration is very difficult. It all started over a year ago when I aquired a set of NOS pink Comp Pools, they are my favorite tire and my favorite color on bikes. I had drawn so many variations using a bunch of different combinations for about a year. Then after seeing Britts (Smokin Endo's) Prostyler I knew this was the right frame to build with the tires. We negotiated and I convinced him to let his extra frame set go, thank you so much Britt. I actually sat on the bike for a while, since I was already building another bike for Rockford. Once Rockford was over I realized that I had limited time to build the Profile for the Summer Slam, around six weeks, and all I had was a frame, tires and the Tuffs. The frame was in sub par condition and in need of metal work, so my Dad taught me to weld on a Saturday afternoon and I immediatly burned a whole right thru the upper loop. So after playing with the temp we got a nice flow going and with hours of grinding and welding and grinding and welding I think we had the frame in respectful condition. During this time I started collecting parts scouring E Bay, bothering friends to part with stuff, about a hundred trips to the powder coaters getting more stuff done and changing my mind I had a build but it still was not what I wanted. Along comes Jessie James, he stops by one night and refers to the bike as a "turd", we talked about different combinations and the next week he brought me a black chain. Well that chain changed eveything, I liked it alot, the next time Jamie came over I had the black brake cables on, the black chainring bolts and the black grip tape on the forks. Jamie brought over a bunch of parts and we made about five different looks to the bike, with different color combinations even Dylan my son got some tools out and wanted to change things. After about two weeks of fine tuning the bike I was ready for the Summer Slam, the night before I put the pad set on and waxed her up for the big show. I was a bit nervous and not sure how people would receive the build since I did paint a set of Aerospeeds pink, you can't believe how many people looked at the bike and didnt even realize what they were, someone said "that takes alot of balls". The responce was overwhelming thank you so much all of you for your great compliments and the biggest one of all Best of Show at the Slam. I would also like to that Brian P for the brakes and Julio for the grips they really added to the build immensely.
