1977 Mark 1 complete

Mark 1 Temple AZ.

This is the only one Mark 1 I have ever seen.  If you look really close it has a lot of features that was ahead of it time.  I raced this bike in 1977 to April 79.  I plan to find a couple of things that still need to be changed to get it back to how I raced it.

It has Shimano Fee Hubs.  Araya 7a Rims.  They were very light but not super strong.  I built the rims with 60-80 gage spokes and aluminum spoke nipples.  I ran 16x1-3/8 inner tubes to save weight.  First tires were back walls very similar to the ones on the bike now.  It has a Pro Neck, Race Inc. aluminum bars, fluted seat post.  The frame had a small bb and that why my father bought the bike.  He had light crank sets with a lot of sprockets lying around.   We chose to run with the SR Custom 3 that is on the bike now.

The Red Line Fork has the chrome end caps and cut out drop.  I believe that it was one of the first forks marketed nationwide.  The Brake lever is one of the first Shimano DX levers.  It was adjustable long or short throw.  It pushed the housing instead of pulling the cable.  I had many wonderful memories come flooding back as I put this thing back together.
