1978 GJS
True survivor. Original owner GJS race prepped bike.
I'm the original owner of this bike.
Cycle Pro forks.
Takagi Chromoly cranks with KKT pedals
Shimano Tourney brake with Mathauser shoes
Araya 7b rims with Shimano quick change hubs (even extra sprockets!)
Mongoose or Diamondback stem
Tange quick adjust headset
Agressor MX front tire. 20x2.125 with 1.75 tube. 20x1.75 rear tire.
Generic seat - but production stamped May 1978
I bought this bike early in the GJS A-Frame production (July 1978 I believe), it didn't have a serial number on it, or, was shipped without one. With the exception of Oury grips, this bike retains 100% of the parts it was built to race with in 1978. The only updates have been new brake shoes, and a new brake lever, and NOS parts were used. Bike was raced in 1979 Jag BMX world Championships.
Added an old pic. Me and 2 buddies from 1979 - when we graduated from beginner to novice. Check out those nice trophies and number plates. 2 GJS's and I think an old Mongoose. I'm in the middle with this bike, chrome GJS on the right. (He still has it, up in his rafters, similar to mine, yellow tuffs).
