Dragonfly was founded in Hamburg, Germany in 1994 by Matthias Meyer and Stefan Ehrig. From the beginning DF set out to design and engineer BMX components using the best materials and manufacturing processes but also to push the boundaries of technology. In 1997 the DFX was one of the first BMX frames to use double butted tubing and a forged crmo dropout, allowing for the first successful use of a built in chain tensioner. DF continue to push technology in BMX using materials such as Titanium and many special manufacturing processes. All DF products are designed and tested by DF team riders across the world.
