1978 Cooks Brothers "Austin Cruiser 26"
One of Five built especially for the gnarly guys in Austin TX. Appearently they were jumping over numerous cars to flat landings back then. Ouch... I found this one behind a shed in a shadey part of town. All I could see was the loop tail, but somehow it was calling out. Notice the gussets at the ss/st. I was going to cut them out but on closer inspection I couldn't find a crack, the material was the same as the drop-outs, and the welds matched the rest of the frame. I called Jack at Cooks and he told me they made five for the Austin riders. Keep your eyes open, these bikes are still out there.
The bike will get restored to match my geared version, only this one will be a true Cruiser. It will be raced again in the 14th running of the Cruiser Nation World Championship Single Speed DH Race. High Noon 4TH of July.
