1982 Cook Bros. "Austin Cruiser"
Second owner, original paint and decals, smoothest ride ever.
I got this frame as a complete from the sister of an ex-girlfriend, and it was in excellent condition. Since then, every single component has been replaced, including the original chrome Cook forks (which I still have). Through the years it has evolved into my de-facto road bike. It's a little dorked-out with the computer, but so what? This bike has taken me literally thousands of miles down the road, including numerous rides of 70, 80, and 100+ miles. It climbs like a dream. This bike is the one they will have to pry from my cold dead hands. The build is: Cook Bros. Racing Austin Cruiser frame, Landing Gear stamped canti-forks, GT cruiser bars, GT piston quill stem, Cook Bros. “dog bones” 176mm cranks, Cook Bros. front hub, Campagnolo Record small flange rear hub, Mavic rims, Continental Sport Contact tires, Avid brake levers, Ritchey V-brake (front), Oddessey “Pitbull” brake (rear), Chrome layback seat post, Brooks "Professional" saddle, 44 tooth chainring, 17 tooth Shimano bmx freewheel.
